THE TABLE HAS BEEN SET!!

In just 72 hours The University of Memphis Tigers will clash with their most heated rival in basketball---the UT Volunteers. There will be no love lost between these two schools and the vols will have revenge on their minds after Memphis went to knoxville last year and defeated them. The FedEx Forum is sold out for this afternoon new year's eve contest and festivities begin at W.C. Handy Park with a pep rally for the team and coaches.
After shooting 51% from the field and hitting 11 3-pointers against IUPUI, the tigers seem to be hitting their stride just at the right time when their schedule is the toughest. its good to see that the Christmas break didn't slow the tigers down. Senior forward Pierre Henderson-Niles had his best game as a tiger, scoring 15 points, 3 blocks, and 1 steal against the Jaguars today. This was easily a career game for him. Elliot Williams had his usual stellar game, a stat-sheet-stuffer, with 27 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Williams was 8 of 11 from the field and 6 of 7 from the line. Even sophomore Wesley Witherspoon had a great game off the bench with 11 points (3 for 4 from the arc) in 21 minutes. All in all, the tigers' offense is revved up for the major test against those boys in orange.
Now, we can offically talk about the game that everyone from Rocky Top to the Mississippi River has been waiting on. These tigers are sure ready and eager to keep their hot shooting streak going, especially since they went 7-13 from the arc in the first half, and 4-6 in the second half. Let's just hope that the boys in orange don't have the same success at the Forum!

TIGERS REPRESENT

After a strong showing on national television against the #1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks, the Tigers return back to action against in-state foe Tennessee Tech Eagles of the OVC conference. The Tigers look to take out some that frustration from the 2-point loss to the Jayhawks Tuesday night in St. Louis, on a lesser, underdog in TTU. The Tigers, led by sophomore Elliott Williams will be a tough opponent tonight for TTU. In other news, I am here in Houston to see the football team play the Houston Cougars in a C-USA matchup. Hopefully the tigers can pull off an upset against a ranked opponent, something that hasn't happened in years. Just remember, anybody can get beat on any given day!

RE: Basketball is Here!!

Alright folks the real season is about to start tonight!! Our Memphis Tigers open up this year's 2009-2010 campaign against the Jackson St. Tigers of the SWAC Conference. Although this is an inferior opponent, don't think the tigers of Jackson St. aren't thinking upset. These hungry tigers were picked to win their conference and a signature win against us is all they need to propell them through their conference. Stay tuned for updates before, during and after the game on all of your exciting Memphis Tiger basketball action!! For updates, check my twitter account, http://www.twitter.com/adamjdouglas.

TOMMY WEST OUT AS MEMPHIS HEAD COACH

If you've seen the press conference today, then one would almost wonder why did it take so long for head coach Tommy West to finally be fired up about his program. In nine plus seasons University of Memphis head football coach Tommy West compiled a 49-58 record. but the record wasn't why athletic director R.C. Johnson decided to relieve coach West of his duties, at least that what he says. "We told him we were going in another direction," said Johnson. West will recieve a 2.7 million buyout and will aslo remain until season's end. West says that this will happen to the next coach unless the fans demand better facilities, coaching necessities, etc. West also argues that the next coach needs the same level of playing field to fight with other C-USA coaches. In his next statement West wants the fans and media to either put something into the program to make it better or do away with it instead of trying to tear it down and say negative things all the time about it. I for one say this comes too little too late, but a way finally get out what needs to be said.
Possible replacements for coach West include: former Memphis runningback Larry Porter, current LSU assistant; Oklahoma St. co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer; Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzhan; and Florida assistant Charlie Strong. Although these replacements may be acceptable to R.C., many others want to see the likes of Tommy Tuberville, John L. Williams, and Terry Bowden, all of whom had major success on the D-1 level and are high profile head coaches.

BREAKING NEWS: Coach West IS FIRED!!

The day has come for Memphis fans to rejoice, or not so fast! In what may be his last press luncheon as the University of Memphis head football coach, Tommy West encouraged the fans to not be so critical towards the next head coach. "either support them(football team) or leave them alone," said West. West was ver firery when he came to the poduim and talked about the firing. "Its never a good day when you lose your job. I just don't like it when everyone criticsizing the team and they're not doing nothing to help it." This firing comes after a dreadful 56-28 loss at the hands of an average football team in Tennessee Vols. West, who has led the tiger football team to five bowls in the last six seasons, has also had three losing seasons in the last four. More quotes to come as i get more information....stay tuned!

JUST WIN BABY, PT. 2

Now this is what you have been waiting for! Stats baby! Well, as usual, last year's all conference performer and 1,000-yard back Curtis Steele was up to his old tricks again. He amassed 240 yards on 39 carries while leading the Tigers to the victory over UTEP and he was also named Conference USA player of the week. Steele Also grabbed a touchdown through the air from quarterback Will Hudgens, who threw for 218 yards on 19-for-33 passing and 3 TD's. Wide receiver Carlos Singleton also caught a TD pass and racked up 105 yards on 5 catches for the day. And what else do I need to say about Duke Calhoun? Another fine effort from the senior receiver who had another catch to add to his career total for most consecutive games with a catch. He also had a touchdown. Lastly, newcomer on defense Marcus Ball had 2 interceptions, with one of those being a highlight film type interception where it seems like he dove 10 yards to take the ball away from one of the UTEP receivers. Next up for the Tigers is Southern Miss down in Hattisburg, MS.....THE BLACK AND BLUE BOWL!!

Memphis Tiger Football

So today we played a 2-1 Marshall team led by their 1,000-yard rushing running back. I don't remember the name but I'm pretty sure the team did as they were seeing the back of his jersey all day long!! Damn we are not clicking on all cylinders so far this season!! I wish i knew what I could do to turn this season around. So far we have a 1-3 record and the schedule doesn't get any easier. With road contests 2 of the next 3 weeks against formiddable opponents, not to mention a Tuesday night game thrown in there on the 27th of October, the Tigers better fix things in a hurry! More info on this game later, I'm out!!

Greetings!

Hello world my name is Adam Douglas and I would like you to enter my world as I take you on a journey through my eyes as I see it! I will be mainly blogging about my beloved Memphis Tigers as we continue our quest for a C-USA title! Now don't be alarmed because you may feel like that's the only thing I may talk about. I also have an interesting life that we will discuss too. So sit back and enjoy, I hope, as we can grow together!!
